with president obama among registered voters, 46% even. four weeks ago pew had obama up by nine among registered voters, so this has been a huge shift in the pew poll. the move in the pew poll towards romney is greater among likely voters. romney is surging ahead to 49%. four weeks ago obama led among likely voters by eight. now to the latest gallup tracking poll which covers the last seven days. gallup has president obama back in the lead at 50 to 45. what a difference from the other polyp that's exactly where the race stood before the debate. romney had surged in the tracking poll. the two candidates were actually tied in the three days immediately after the debate, but the president seems to have wiped out romney's gains in the gallup poll. joining me right now are howard fineman, editorial director of the "huffington post," and the honorable michael nutter, mayor of philadelphia and presidential surrogate in this tough campaign. gentlemen, thank you for joining us. always go to the elected official first. mr. mayor, what needs to be done right now to right this ship, to get obama back on a w

. but the 2012 version of that theory now is that mitt romney cheated in the debate against president obama this week not by having somebody feed him the answers through an ear piece but rather by bringing the illegal crib sheet on to the debate stage with him. you see, previous debate rules have set out very clearly that, quote, no props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by any candidate and yet have a look at this damning evidence. this is at the very beginning of the debate on wednesday night and as you'll be able to see clearly here what is that in your pocket? mr. romney very clearly pulls something from his right pocket and he pops it on to the podium in front of him. violation. violation. according to the conspiracy, complete with the grainy, slow mo youtube videos, this is mr. romney cheating. now he must have been working from note cards the entire debate. the explanation from the romney campaign is mr. romney was not pulling notes out of his pocket. he was pulling out of his pocket a handkerchief. sure enough, a lit

tonight. everybody is talking about president obama's body demeanor this week. what does tanya reiman think. i want to start with the two candidates walking into the debate forum. >> all righty. >> we welcome president obama and governor romney. [cheers and applause] >> bill: okay. so the first thing i noticed was the president grabbing romney's arm. >> right. and talking his wallet. no, he didn't really. but he, you know, getting a little -- kind of semi hug. >> that's not the first thing i notice. the first thing i notice was the swagger that the president came out with. >> bill: he was bopping. >> his arms are swinging high. romney is not. he is very stiff when it comes to walking out an stage. then the hands meet. the patting goes on. the most interesting thing about that is as someone is trying to pat your arm demonstrating is he powerful. president obama comes across as powerful because is he patting. romney had the same amount of power going on. >> bill: do you believe that they actually think about what's going to happen when they walk out and how they are going to shake hands

president obama putting a different foot forward after that debate last week? >> it's no surprise that barack obama raised this much money. we knew they was going to raise this much money all along. in 2004, john kerry out-raised president bush, and we all know how that turned out. so i think, you know, yes, he raised a lot of money. the president, or, excuse me, governor romney has raised $12 million since wednesday. so it's been a shot in the arm for the romney campaign too. >> and that's online as well. >> it's 60% -- >> we're not talking about major donors. we're talking about people who saw his debate and liked what they saw. >> 60% of them are new donors. so i think the romney campaign is very pleased with this. and what you saw tuesday night in the debate, you took the money off the table, you had the president and governor trromney speaking unfiltered to the people, and people really liked what they heard from mitt romney. >> but some people might not consider exactly what mitt romney said as unfiltered. take a listen to what he said about cutting taxes for people during t

the latest polls to have won 67% to 25% against barack obama this time. when you went head-to-head with obama in 2008, the polls said 51% obama, 38% mccain. do you think you would have done better against the obama that was debating this week? >> i think so, piers, but you know, it would sound like i am now trying to rewrite history or i would have done better. you know, i never tried to do any of that looking back and certainly not in anger or bitterness. but i thin it is true that during the 2008 campaign, the president or then senator obama had no record to defend, and one of the reasons why mitt did so well in this debate was because mitt was -- i think very legitimately, attacking his record, whether it be the $90 billion in subsidies for energy or a number of the other things that he pointed -- the failure of dodd-frank, and so the president had a record to defend this time, but one, do not underestimate the president of the united states. he will come back strong. i think mitt has to be prepared for that. and also, as you mentioned, these job numbers will give him a bit or something of

misleading statements. "time" magazine story this week runs down statements by both campaigns that are either false or outright propaganda. so for the democrats to call mitt romney a liar is foolish and destructive to their guy, president obama, because the obama campaign has made just as many false and misleading statements as the romney campaign has. beyond that, there is the usual hysteria from ranked idealogues. racial hustler michael eric dyson has injected color into the debate. explaining why president obama could not speak candidly. >> lest we forget this and pretend that doesn't make a difference the specter hanging over his neck that i can't come off as too vigorous because then it looks like i'm an angry black man and because of the angry black man phenomena barack obama engaged man -- here is the reality, obama doesn't have the latitude that white guys who speak with vigor do. >> bill: here's the reality, mr. dyson, you simply cannot analyze anything, anything without injecting race, that's the reality. now, fair-minded americans know vicious garbage when they see and hear it ther

surprise, but certainly some welcome news for the obama white house, waging what has been an uphill battle against unemployment. this week the labor department reported the jobless rate fell sharply in september to 7.8%. that's the same level it was when president obama took office back in january 2009. actual growth last month was modest. only 1114,000 jobs created. but the labor department ao revised the july and august number to include an 86,000 new jobs. let's talk about it with austin goolsby. austin, thanks very much for coming in. what is this jobs report mean to you? >> well, i think it's a good sign. you know, when i was in the white house, i used to say every month, good or bad, you never want to make too much out of any one month's numbers, because it's plus or minus 100,000 jobs is the margin of error. so there's a lot of variability. taken as an average, this is a solid report. >> when you say plus or minus margin of error of 100,000 jobs, in other words if 114,000 jobs were created last month it could have been 200,000 or 14,000? >> yeah. and you see in these revisions when
